Program: What the Qantas hack reveals about the changing nature of cyber attacks

The personal data of up to six million Qantas customers has been stolen in a major breach of the airline's cybersecurity. 

Qantas says phone numbers, names, birthdates, email addresses and frequent flyer numbers were obtained in what is believed to be a co-ordinated attack on airlines around the world by a cybercriminal gang called Scattered Spider.

While traditional attacks target passwords and financial information, experts are warning the data obtained could be used to launch more sophisticated spear phishing attacks.
